Lukeweb, the problem is, the piece is polished all over. If it was drilling polish it would only occur on the points that came in contact with the material being drilled. Also 2-sided drills that...

Here's some drills that were found at the Kunneman Tract at Cahokia. They had been swallowed by birds and stayed in thei craws long enough to get polished, before being expelled....

Grand gulch. Frand Gulch Is completely different, and in West Virginia, I believe. Also, the knife blade in the pic was made by Chris Henry (paleoarts).
